Baker Trailers – Final Saga

The final chapter on the trailers located across from Baker Middle School is finally closed. The Baker Trailers were to be used for artifact storage and administrative tasks but due to financial constraints the decision to dispose of them was made. After a long search for a good home, members of the police academy picked up the trailers on April 29, 2009. The trailers will be used as a training facility in Germantown. Our photographer, Linda, was on hand to capture the entire process in pictures. Everything did not go smoothly but the police were ready for anything and handled the mishaps in a calm, cool manner. Between the two trailers, there was a flat tire, a tire off the rim and a tire with the bottom completely gone (apparently pulled originally with a frozen brake). Once they found a large enough jack and found a way to keep it from sinking into the mud, they were able to have enough tires to roll away. Since it was the police that took them, they provided their own escort, which looked like a parade. The bill of sale was signed (for $1) and Jim and Ray waved good-bye as the trailers rolled on down Oak Drive.
